American Revolution Study

LIS educators Mrs. Amanda Marinez and Mr. Matt Bruce collaborated to bring the American Revolution to life for their fifth-grade students! The fifth-grade social studies teachers taught about the loyalists to the British vs. Minutemen of the Colonies. They discussed the battles of the American Revolution with their classes. Mrs. Marinez taught her students about elements of fiction and historical fiction, while students study the American Revolution in social studies with Mr. Bruce using candlelight. Mrs. Marinez dressed up as a British loyalist to battle against Mr. Bruce, who was dressed as one of the Minutemen. The students considered the theme of loyalty as they read the fiction text. They considered the impact of freedom desired by the colonies in social studies. LISD is so proud of our teachers that bring content and curriculum to life. You're in the right place!
