LIS students in Mr. Matt Bruce and Mrs. Susan Faulks' social studies classes honored Celebrate Freedom Week to highlight the values and ideals on which the United States was founded, and the sacrifices made for freedom in the founding of the country. Students learned about the intent, meaning, and importance of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, including the Bill of Rights. Students also examined the relationship between the ideas in these documents and subsequent American history. Mr.Bruce and Mrs. Faulks had their classes participate in "Celebrate Freedom Week" by writing a paragraph telling what America means to them. They used their handprints to create a flag in the hallway representing America's freedom and showing how we all have a hand in making sure America is and will continue to be the country it was created to be. Way to go kiddos!
