LIS students participated in creating BlackOut Poems in the library with librarian Abi Swain this month, during National Poetry Month. Students took an old page out of a discarded novel and blacked-out some words, leaving only a few words that would make a poem. Students then created a graphic upon the page to illustrate their new poetry. The Poetry pieces were judged, and there was a winner and second place in each grade level. The results are 4th-graders Nahla Settles, 1st place & Brooklyn Corrales, 2nd place and 5th-graders Sofia Koubek, 1st place & Itzel Reyes, 2nd place. These girls were all awarded a prize from Mrs. Swain! Congratulations!
