Texas Chili

LIS 4th graders in Mrs. Clara Sanders' social studies class were caught eating chili in class! That's because they have been studying Texas, but back in the 1800s. Mrs. Sanders' students immigrated to Texas to settle into a better life, build a homestead, and make a living. The final step in the LIS study was eating chili & dump cake while writing a letter back home to their family, persuading them to move to Texas too! They had to include what region they lived in, what the land was like and the resources it offered, what the climate was like, and what kept them busy all day in hopes that the rest of their family would make the move to Texas too!
